Please look over the current docs for PhPCollab team with new default screenshots and give comments under this topic:
http://phpcollab.sourceforge.net/viewtopic.php?t=775

The documentation is located here for now:
http://www.collabowrite.net/collab_docs/team/index.htm

If there are any problems with the site, please don't post it in the forum! Just send me a private message through this site if, after 24 hours, you still cannot get through. We will hopefully move the documentation onto sourceforge after editing.

Regards,
Michelle

I would be really happy to contribute to documentation, actually, I'm going to talk about phpcollab on an article I'm going to write (in Italian) and I will be very happy to contribut to the documentation side of the project.

I would like to help also, but I'm truly a newbie to PHP.

May be a good thing, because if I can follow documentation and make it happen, then most should be able to.

I'll look at the docbook links you provided, see if I think I can gear up to task, and get back with you.

I can help with documentation.

Although I know nothing about phpcollab, I do know a lot about creating software docs. Been technical writer for 6 years now and have used a lot of technologies. DocBook isn't one of them, but I'm sure I could get up to speed on it.

Looks like you're probably more interested in doing development than documentation. I suggest you make a post in the feature requests area about the features you're interested in developing and see if anybody is already working on them or would like to join you in your development effort. Also, PM devels with the same. Once you've actually developed a component, devels will probably add you to the development team. Good luck!

If you need someone to proof anything or do some editing so that the facts read well, I can help out in that regard. I don't have a lot of time to help set up the platform for documentation, but I can read pretty quickly, I am familiar with phpC, and I can help gel everything into readable English if that's any kind of issue.

I've pretty much found the client for developing XML - XMLMind (http://www.xmlmind.com). XMLMind will generate HTML but the free version will not do PDF's (see post about PDF's: http://phpcollab.sourceforge.net/viewtopic.php?t=799). I have actually finished the XML now for the team manual, at least for version 2.4, but am still proofing. When I finish the initial proof, I will post the XML to the forum or send it to devels, then everyone can jump in and make comments. The best thing here would probably be to make all comments in one post or one document.

Greetings :

I would like to help, and can offer translation services (I speak three different languages). I have been using collab off and on, but I would still love to help.

I have experience with XML and XML translations, and in creating web services, etc.

As far as the documentation project itself goes, maybe the Collaborative book feature of Drupal could be helpful? http://drupal.org/node/view/284

I can also help with docbook if needed. Just let me know where I can be of most use.

Hi All,
Its been a little blast of air finding these pages tonite, like a large number of others I have been a big fan of phpCollab since it's early days. It's really great to see that it's breathing again, one thing that concerns me though is there does appear to be a mish mash of approaches here and I certainly dont want to add to that.

However, I would like to get to grips with a basic Developer Group and some form of Team Roles so I know who to approach with what, it appears there are a lot of users out there with good ideas and experience and suggestions as to how things should be done.

It also appears that a large number of 'modded' versions are out and about (indeed I have a few that I have done) would it not make sense to post descriptions/screenshots of these and poll users to get an idea of what is wanted and what is not, I know there are feature requests already and some will have more benefit than others but this is a crucial time for the contiuation of what is without doubt the best Open Source Collaboration Suite out there.

I have time and server resources that I am more than happy to dedicate as I really believe in the value of collaborative effort and the Open Source Movement and I worry that this may all become a little too overwhelming for the brave few who have already stepped up and offered to continue the development process.

Looking forward to phpCollab 2.6 , 7 & 8 in time Smile

Ed

Hi i-netmedia -

Looks like your post belongs in the development forum (this is the documentation forum). Also, you may want to PM devels and diyoha with your suggestions as I am only the documentation manager and do not control the overall architecture or development of PhPCollab.

Hi Team!

Been reading over the posts and the documentation that has been worked on. Looks great, and I love the concise and simple writing. It’s refreshing!

I am familiar with phpCollab, strictly as a user, and have played with it a few times. I found it to be a fairly intuitive interface.

I would be interested in contributing to the effort. My interest would lie on the client side, doing the FAQ or other such sections as glossaries, as needed on the job list to complete the project. I am not very familiar with DocBooks, but would gladly send off any finished work (in an approved file format) to those who can upload to the proper format.

As for experience, I am fresh onto the market as a technical writer, having just finished my program. I want to expand my writing experience and portfolio, and this would be a fun project to work on in the process!

Please contact me; my info is in my profile. Everything done so far looks very nice, and when finished and edited, will be a super resource.

Cheers for now!

is this documentation forum still active? Replies seem fairly 'old'.

Anyway: if this idea is still on, you've got yourselves a new contributor! I'm willing to make some documentation or help out the documentation team in any way. I have experience in writing manuals, e-learning, courses and teaching, mainly Dutch. Better have an native English person proof my work, but I suppose this was part of the plan, no?
