I kinda got tired of maintaining multiple calendars, etc.
I was able to get ical to work along with the email notification.
It works well with my setup.
Please backup your files and test first.
It sends an ical calendar file as an attachment with the email that is ALREADY being sent out. No extra emails are sent.
It adds the attachment when:
- A task is Assigned to you
- A task due date changes while its assigned to you
- A subtask is Assigned to you
- A subtask due date changes while its assigned to you

1. The iCal directory should be OUTSIDE of the phpcollab directory (this is because I'm using it for more than one app).
To change the location just edit the include path in the files that are in the Tasks folder and Subtasks folder.
You only need the iCalcreator.class.php from the iCal folder, the other files are if you want to get deeper into ical.
2. Copy the files from the tasks and subtasks folders to yours (backup the files first).
3. Make tasks and subtasks writeable to everyone (it needs to create the attachment file). You can create another directory and point the destination to that directory within the task and subtask files. I just stopped there because it works for me.
You *should* be ready to go.

To test:
Create task in a project that you are a team member of.
Make yourself the owner and save.
The email that you typically get will have an ical.ics attachment. When you open it up (at least when I open mine in Outlook 2k3) it should automagically open a calendar event with the info in there.
You can save it and it will work.
The great thing about it is when you change the due date or some details about the task and you open the latest ical.ics, it won't create a new event, it will edit the original event with the new information!

One thing, these should probably be Outlook tasks, however I like them on my calendar and not my Outlook task list (which I don't check). I have not been able to get the tasks to work at this point.
Let me know how it goes.
